Project Manager (Manufacturing / Industrial Engineering)

LOCATION:Farmington Hills, MI

SUMMARY:

Responsible for the coordination and completion of projects under sometimes tight deadlines. Oversees all aspects of projects. sets deadlines, takes accountability / responsibility, and monitors and summarizes progress of project to client. Prepares reports for upper management regarding status of project.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Project Management from start-up to completion.
  2. Implementation of LEAN manufacturing and cost analysis.
  3. Establish and facilitate project coordination meetings.
  4. Collect part and process related data in a timely manner.
  5. Develop material presentation layouts to optimize space and labor requirements.
  6. Develop material kits with plant IE's, production and production control team.
  7. Develop material storage area layout.
  8. Follow up and get buy-off on concepts, layouts.
  9. Develop facilities requirements.
  10. Oversee implementation and provide plant support as required.
  11. Lead and facilitate supplier discussions to support production and customer schedules

EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCE:

Bachelors of Science (I.E.) or equivalent from 4-year college or university; or 8 years related experience and / or training.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • PMI / PMP, APICS Education and / or Certification preferred.
  • All extra-curricular activities directed to related business field are encouraged for personal growth and development.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Must have 5+ years of Industrial / Manufacturing engineering experience.
  • Industrial material handling procedures / systems knowledge.
  • LEAN manufacturing process.
  • Must demonstrate excellent leadership, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Knowledgeable in assembly process, and lean material flow

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability & Willingness to Travel up to 75%
  • Valid Passport
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • US Citizenship (DOD requirement)

COMPUTER SKILLS:

Manufacturing Flow (Logistics) Engineer

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Collect part and process related data.
  2. Develop material presentation layouts to optimize space and labor requirements.
  3. Develop material kits with plant IE's, production and production control team.
  4. Develop material storage area layout.

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Must have 5 or more years of Industrial/Manufacturing engineering experience.

  4. Must know AutoCAD; Microsoft Access knowledge is preferred.
  5. Willing to travel on average of 75%.
  6. Knowledge of part packaging is a plus.
  7. Automotive experience is a plus.
  8. Must be a team player, pro-active and be able to perform under limited supervision.

EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCE:

Bachelors Degree required. Equivalent experience will be taken into consideration.

Facilities and Equipment Engineer

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Develop specifications and preliminary design of assembly line side equipment based on Lean Manufacturing Techniques.
  2. Prepare equipment bid package information (per customer standards if applicable).
  3. Assist in requisition preparation for assembly line side equipment.
  4. Work with vendors on clarifications, review bids recieved and make reccomendations, help with award.
  5. Basic mechanical equipment design skills.
  6. Define Body-In-White and Trim-Chassis-Final material flow equipment requirements.
  7. Gravity Feed Rack (GFR's), line side display equipment (dollies, risers, lift tables, turntables, tilt tables)
  8. Other material flow equipment (dunnage stands, storage signs, tip tables, bulk storage - warehouse racking).

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Must know AutoCAD 2D, AutoCAD or Inventor 3D is a plus.
  2. Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
  3. Willing to travel on average of 75%.
  4. Automotive experience is a plus.
  5. Must be a team player, pro-active and be able to perform under limited supervision.

Industrial Engineer

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Responsible for developing engineering activities related to materials and facility/logistics management. Collect data and perform integrity analysis, optimization and feasibility studies for material handling systems and processes. Evaluate and improve plant facility, layout and labor assignments by developing material flow simulation models using her industrial engineering skills. Perform field studies of manufacturing facilities to verify plant conditions and modify the AutoCAD layout to reflect changes. Conduct static storage and dock analysis for areas in Body in White, Paint and Trim/Chassis/Final. Develop continuous improvement solutions, execute experimental analysis and interpret results.

  • Requires Bachelor Degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or foreign educational equivalent.
  • Candidate must have a minimum of six months of experience in the position offered. Experience must include material handling and logistics implementation activities for automotive manufacturing facilities.
  • Work location: Farmington Hills, MI.
